General information of Croatia

The Republic of Croatia is a country in Central Europe that is geographically surrounded by the Carpathian Basin, Southeast Europe and the Mediterranean. Its capital is Zagreb, which is the main financial and commercial city, with one million inhabitants in its metropolitan area.

After the war that ravaged the country, Croatia has rebuilt its infrastructure, revitalizing its image of Mediterranean country with crystal clear waters and medieval towns that blend Eastern and Western architecture, as well as its respect for the environment and traditions with the arrival of tourism. Dubrovnik has become the ultimate symbol of this "new Croatia".

The main tourist attraction in Croatia are wonderful beaches with crystal clear water. The country consists of 1778 km of coastline and over 1,000 islands, 66 of them inhabited.

Croatia also has seven parks, highlighting the Plitvice National Park, which offers a place where alternate lakes, waterfalls and springs of spectacular beauty.

At the southern end of the coast of Dalmatia are the most beautiful and important cities of the region: Zadar, Sibenik, Split (with the largest port of Dalmatia) and Dubrovnik.

The climate varies from Mediterranean type of the Adriatic coast and the continental interior. The sunny coastal areas offer warm, dry summers and mild, rainy winters. The high mountains of the coast act as a shield from reaching the cold north winds, this makes Croats enjoy an early spring and late autumn.

Real estate investment in Croatia

Currently global investors have decided to conquer markets that not many years ago were unfeasible, so countries like Croatia are presented as one of the most inspiring choices for those who decide to invest in the real estate market.

In recent years, Croatia has become a tourist attraction after the Balkan War. It has become usual tourist destination of Italian and German people, and is progressing at high speed through the ranks of the most visited country by Europeans. There is growing interest in visiting Croatia, either through its coast cruises, or by routes and circuits through the cities of the Dalmatian coast.

Croatia's entry into the European Union plays a very important role in the Croatian real estate market, as it is expected an increase of property prices. According to the press, prices of houses and land for construction has risen from 20 to 30% over the past year, and 50 to 100% in most attractive locations such as Dubrovnik.

As the Croatian government began to restrict development on the coast to protect the environment, the properties already built and land with planning permission are increasing its value considerably. In addition, property in Croatia is still much cheaper compared to other Mediterranean places also attractive.

The Croatian government knows there is a clear trend in property investment in Croatia, what brings great benefits to all levels: employment, economy, tourism. Therefore, they made various efforts to encourage foreign investment.

Croatian legislation regulating foreign investment advocates equal treatment for domestic and foreign investors and unrestricted freedom of the benefits and repatriation of invested capital.

Now is an ideal time to invest in the Croatian real estate market.
